Note Triggered Automation Envelopes - Max for Live Device

This Max for Live MIDI effects device takes MIDI notes as an input, and generates user-defined envelopes for a given MIDI CC# number.

A note on triggers an envelope.

The higher the pitch of the note, the higher the maximum value of the envelope will be.

The higher the velocity of the note, the longer the envelope will be.

Being MIDI CC data, these envelopes can then be used to automate anything within Live as well as many things outside of Live, and can be recorded as automation data within Live.

GenMDM Tools Max for Live Update

I've updated the GenMDM tools for Max for Live.  

The updates include:
• A new GUI for the FM editor
• Added a "data dump" button that can be pressed in the GUI or it can be activated by sending a note-on 127
• The idea with the data dump is that multiple MIDI tracks in Live with different settings can be fed into the one GenMDM MIDI channel - and settings can be dumped dynamically as a song plays back• Increased reliability / stability
• Fixed a bug that caused delays at times with MIDI data
• Fixed a bug that caused dropouts at times with MIDI data

Automated MIDI Sampling Patch

I want to sample more MIDI outboard gear for the creation of sample packs. To simplify the process, I made this Max patch. The patch generates note ons and note offs at regular intervals and lengths, and adds program change messages once a counter has been reached.  It can be easily edited to provide different intervals and lengths, of course. Simply change some of the math and the counting, and voila.

The idea is to automate or semi-automate the process of recording samples from MIDI-enabled hardware with more flexibility and customisation than a linear sequencer would normally allow. A simple solution to a basic problem.

Elevator Position Sensor Using Freeduino RBBB

I made a simple LDR / LED setup for an elevator, where the current location (upper floor or lower floor) is shown via an LED that is located above either elevator door. A laser was installed in the elevator shaft at the lower level. A light dependent resistor sensor was placed opposite the laser.

When the laser is shining on the LDR, the upper floor LED lights up (as the lift is not on the lower floor). When the last is not shining on the LDR, the lower floor LED lights up (as the lift is on the lower floor).

A potentiometer sets the threshold at which the LDR triggers the LED changes. The setup was based around a Freeduino RBBB PCB and components for a quick and simple installation.
