Well, I've had the setup running for 6 or more hours in a row without any ill effects, so I don't think it is damaging really. But I would not risk it if my monitors were expensive LCD monitors of course :P
Depends on how he's doing it. If the sync signals are being properly generated all the time, then it's no different from displaying funky images with a PC, so it's completely harmless.
Now if he's generating the sync pulses only when displaying something, that could be stressing the sync/deflection circuits.

Does this damage the screens in anyway? as in the colour flickering like that, surely it must be damaging something..
Or do you wreck the screens by making them display funkily bright colour like that?
