little-scale: Translation And Narrative (Guitar, Drums and Uke Droning)

This is a big departure from my previous releases. For starters, it is not related to chipmusic in the slightest. Half of this release is remixing and rearranging very short snippets of jamming in a rock band situation (guitar, guitar, drums). The other half is reworking very short phrases as played on acoustic and electric guitar and ukulele. This is an organic droning album. Come and immerse yourself in sound.

Sebastian Tomczak - guitar, ukulele and laptop
David Gustafsson - guitar
Brent Easson - drums

The hauntingly beautiful cover print is by Lauren Tomczak. Download this release here.

If you want a taste of this before downloading, I would recommend checking out tracks 5, 7 and 8.

Three Old Drowning Goldfish Tracks

I came across some old Drowning Goldfish songs in my iTunes library - some more acoustic sort of stuff. This includes my equal-favourite DG song, "Lord of the Flies" - a song which for at least two or three years I thought I had lost until I found it on an old hard drive somewhere. I love it when stuff like that happens - unique data that cannot be recreated is found again.

- Let Me Go
- Lord of the Flies
- Too Many Horses

Things to do with drowning goldfish

Head on over to Martin's Music Tech Blog (Report and Reflect) to check out two studio recordings done by him recently of us. The tracks are The Nasties and Back to You. He also has some nice production notes and pretty pictures.

You're also welcome to listen to two tracks that are in the works; but be warned, the quality is low. The songs are The Chain and Untitled. Username is staffs and password is youknowimright.

The other 9 to 5

This week, my band drowning goldfish, where I play bass and guitar, has been recording for Mr. Victory's audio arts assignment. We did a session on tuesday night, from 9pm until 5am. Brent, Lauren and myself were present. We have been laying down tracks for: Clementine, Unsure, Back To You and The Nasties. Tonight we will be doing the vocals and some more guitar.

Drowning Goldfish live at the Duke of York

Last night, Drowning Goldfish played live with Blix at the Duke of York. The night went okay- but there was a fair amount of driving before hand (we had to drive up to Brent's place to pick up the amps and help him load all the other stuff into the car).

We haven't played live in a very long time, so playing at such a low-key venue was a good thing. Besides the detuned guitars and faster-than-usual tempos (which are both 'Goldfish standards), we played okay, all things considered. Special thanks to Simon Basey (and Blix) for having us there, and to Kyri for mixing us.

Our setlist consisted of the following tracks: Time, Pinebox, Cancer, Back to You, Unsure, Sabotage, Saturn's Tears, Perseverance and Bitterheart.

You can download a version of Bitterheart here (mp3, 6.6mb). It's a long song, but it is my favourite song of ours... so go listen! And listen at least once before you delete it...
