Tiptop Buchla Eurorack Case 3D Printed

So the @tiptopaudiofficial #eurorack #modular #buchla series modules are a total of 2HP too long to fit in a standard 104HP case. I designed and printed a 108HP case with space for a uZeus power supply module. The minimal design is the perfect shape for these modules, and due to the large size is printed in six sections. I've also included a 1HP blank to fill the space of the top row. Really happy with how this #3dprinting turned out on a @bambulab_official P1P with the Bambu basic PLA!

Mediapipe Hand Solution on Raspberry Pi to OSC to Modular CV / Gate

Setup:

  1. Set up a Raspberry Pi 4 with a clean install of Raspberry Pi OS: https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/
  2. Install Mediapipe as per the instructions here: https://github.com/googlesamples/mediapipe/tree/main/examples/pose_landmarker/raspberry_pi
  3. Install Python OSC on the Raspberry Pi: https://pypi.org/project/python-osc/
  4. Add detect_osc_pi.py (https://github.com/little-scale/Tele-o-Module/blob/main/software/dectect_pi_osc.py) to mediapipe/examples/hand_landmarker/rasperry_pi
  5. If using my Tele-o module (https://little-scale.blogspot.com/2023/01/tele-o-wifi-bluetooth-to-cv-gate.html) replace ip in detect_osc_pi.py with the address of the ESP32 in the module.
  6. If using a different OSC endpoint, replace ip in detect_osc_pi.py with the appropriate address.
  7. It may be beneficial to change the port variable in detect_osc_pi.py - the default is 3000
  8. Pressing together or releasing the thumb and index finger sends a 1 or 0 on OSC path /gate/0
  9. The distance between the thumb and index finger sends a float 0 - 1 on OSC path /cv/0
  10. The X and Y co-ordinates of the index finger are sent as floats of 0 -1 on OSC paths /cv/1 and /cv/2
  11. These OSC paths can be changed with the variables near the top of detect_osc_pi.py

Simple Cinemag CM-DBX Transformer DI

I wired up a simple DI for my synths as I wanted to balance the output as well as push the signal through a transformer. I used a Cinemag CM-DBX transformer.

I connected the primary coil (yellow for positive and orange for negative) to the 6.5mm mono socket, as well as the chassis of the primary coil and shield of the transformer to 6.5mm ground. I connected the secondary coil (red for positive - XLR pin 2 and brown for negative - XLR pin 3) to the XLR jack, as well as the chassis of the secondary coil to XLR pin 1 (ground)ses Cinemag CM-DBX for the transformer,

I used Jaycar part PP1023 for the XLR jack and Jaycar part PS0162 for the 6.5mm mono socket. Even though the box is plastic I have not had any noise issues yet but this will depend on environmental conditions.

No issues with modular levels going through the transformer so far! So it can handle pretty hot signals.

Tele-o: WiFi / Bluetooth to CV / Gate Eurorack Module

I made a Eurorack module that accepts WiFi or Bluetooth signals and outputs CV / Gate.

16 CV Fader Bank with TouchOSC and Teensy

I made a simple 16 channel control voltage fader bank using TouchOSC (which has recently been overhauled in a great way) and my 12 gate 16 cv MIDI interface via a Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. Download the TouchOSC layout here.

Secret Handshake GameCube Controller

I made a sketch for my Secret Handshake USB host module to control Eurorack using a GameCube controller (with a GC to USB adaptor).

Secret Handshake Launchpad Mini Example Update

Update on my Secret Handshake module code - added input for clock (in 2 on the panel).

Sending a Clock Signal to Modular Synth via WiFi

Sending an Ableton Live clock signal over WiFi to my modular synth using OSC, ESP8266 and Max for Live . The sync appears out of order because my DIY Exo Sequencer module doesn't have a reset input but overall the timing and tempo changes work really well - considering the setup.

Using Modular Synth to Control Atem Camera Switching over WiFi using ESP8266

I've been wanting to control my camera switching from my modular synth. So I made a setup where a low to high transition on a digital input on an ESP8266 module generates an OSC message on the WiFi network for the ATEM Mini Pro switcher to change cameras. Here, it's triggered from the kick but it could be any clock, gate or trigger signal. Makes use of atemOSC.

CV-Controllable LED Lighting

I wanted to add some LED lighting to my Eurorack, so I added some LED strips with CV inputs for hue and brightness.

In my case, I used 150 LEDs total with 1 data input from the Teensy 3.6, and used a 5V 3A power supply to power the LEDs.

The Teensy has a separate low amp power supply, and the ground from Teensy is connected to the ground from the 5V 3A power supply. Additionally, a 1000 uF 16V cap across the 5V 3A supply adds some protection.

The Teensy code uses the FastLED library.

The code and schematic are available here: https://github.com/little-scale/eurorack/tree/master/euroWS2811

Accent Mode for Chromatic Drum Gate

I've added a simple accent mode for my Chromatic Drum Gate.

The newest firmware (v002) is available here.

Sending notes to USB MIDI channel 1 is useful for controlling the gate inputs on 12 drum modules.
Sending notes to USB MIDI channel 2 is useful for controlling the gate and accent inputs on 6 drum modules.

Channel 1 maps chromatic notes (C, C#, D, D# etc) to gate outputs G1 - G12, and will respond to note on and note off events. This is useful for controlling the gate inputs on 12 drum modules.

Channel 2 maps the first six chromatic notes (C, C#, D, D# etc) to gate outputs G1 - G6, and will respond to note on and note off events. If a note on event has a velocity above 99, this will also set gate outputs G7 - G12 high. If a note on event has a velocity below 100, this will also set gate outputs G7 - G12 low. This is useful for controlling the gate and accent inputs on 6 drum modules.
